4-H

  • Share-the-Fun
Our annual Share-the-Fun event is coming up soon! Along with club skits, we welcome any individual or small-group talent acts to perform between club skits. Included in this mailing is a registration form for individual talent acts.
  • Camp Counselor Applications
Would you like an opportunity to build leadership skills while having a ton of fun this summer!? Becoming a camp counselor is a great way to make new friends and participate in cool activities while being a great role model to younger youth.
  • Project Workshop Day—Volunteers Needed
Volunteers (adult & youth leaders) are needed to help teach sessions at the Project Workshop Day on Sunday, March 10 from 1-4pm.  Do you have a hobby or talent you'd like to share with 4-H members? Then we need  you! Workshop sessions will be approx. 45 minutes in length and include hands-on activities. Need an idea? The office has project kits that you can use to teach a session. All the supplies are included and no experience is necessary. Contact Kelly (strei016@umn.edu) at the Extension Office if you are interested in helping.
  • Federation Meeting and Roundtable Discussion
Wright County 4-H is looking for your input! We will be hosting a roundtable discussion to identify areas that desire more focus, needs for change, opportunities for further programming or partnership, and more. The input provided will help direct staff, the advisory council, volunteers, and clubs in the coming year(s). We hope youth and adults from across the county come to share your experience, feedback, and general input.
  • Science of Ag Challenge
In The Minnesota 4-H Science of Agriculture Challenge is a program where 4-H youth work on teams of 2 - 5 to identify an agricultural issue in their communities and come up with ideas for a solution. Teams work with a volunteer mentor from the topic area they chose and with one or more adult volunteer coaches. Teams use Science and Engineering practices to guide their project and create a presentation to share in their communities.

County Agriculture Educator

  • Farm Resource Guide Available
The Farm Resource Guide for 2018 is now available upon request at many University of Minnesota Extension County offices across the state. This resource guide includes a variety of useful farm business management information.
  • MN Land Rental Rates
This publication provides a historical perspective on rental rates paid by a group of Minnesota farmers and trends in those rental rates over the past five years. This information is meant as a guide and starting point. The information and data is not meant to establish, determine, set, fix, or even hint at what actual rents should be. It is simply a reporting of historical land rental rates in Minnesota.
  • FINBIN Report on MN Farm Finances
The 2,306 Minnesota farms included in the FINBIN database represent a broad cross-section of Minnesota production agriculture. While there is no “typical” Minnesota farm, these farms include a large enough sample to provide a good barometer of commercial farming in Minnesota. FINBIN data is provided by farms that participate in Minnesota State Farm Business Management Education programs and the Southwestern Minnesota Farm Business Management Association. These farms represent about 3 percent of the farms in the state and 14% of commercial farms with sales of over $250,000.
