Upcoming news, events and opportunities

ACTION REQUIRED:  All 4-H’ers (grades 3+) each year MUST re-select projects of interest to you. This is especially important if you are interested in showing livestock, horses, dogs or participating in the shooting sports project. By selecting projects of interest, we are able to better communicate about learning and leading opportunities for you. If you did not select all the projects of interest at the time of enrollment, please login to ensure that you have selected all projects of interest to you in your 4HOnline profile. Members can find a listing of project areas and more information on the Minnesota 4-H website  Thank you for your attention to this matter!

April 

April 1- Senior recognition & scholarships due.  All Roseau County 4-H Seniors are encouraged to apply and should complete the recognition survey and return a photo to the Extension office to be recognized during the month of May and during the week of the fair. Application and instruction available on the Roseau County 4-H webpage visit, senior recognition & scholarships 

April 1 - Summer Day Camp registration Open. All area youth (completed grades K-6 in 2024) across Roseau County and beyond are invited to attend 4-H summer camps! Registration in 4-H Online is required  to attend camp. For more detailed information visit,  https://z.umn.edu/roseaucounty4-Hsummercamp2024 Deadline to register is May 15.

April 1-Roseau County 4-H Day Camp Counselor Training. Are you a youth in grade 7+ interested in working with younger youth as a camp counselor? We will provide training and support to learn skills as a camp counselor. This is a great opportunity to add volunteer experience to your resume and to gain volunteer hours. Registration in 4-H Online is required  to attend. April 6 Join us at the Spring Project Day on Saturday,  9:00 a.m. -  12:00 p.m. Messiah Church, Roseau. Youth in grades 3+ can have opportunity to explore a variety of 4-H project areas: STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), public presentations, clothing and textiles-sewing, fashion revue, horticulture - succulent plants, health and wellness, environmental science - Plastic Sculpture Challenge, and shooting sports and wildlife. Registration is required to attend. Deadline has been extended to April 2, 2024. Register in 4-H Online; under "Events," select "Roseau County 4-H Spring Project Day."

April 6 - 4-H State Project Bowl contest in Sauk Rapids . Good luck to the Roseau County 4-H Sr. & Jr Horse Project bowl teams! 

April 7 - Local county meetings: Ambassadors (3 p.m.), Leader Council (5:15 p.m.) State Exchange (6:30 p.m.) held at the Roseau County Courthouse Boardroom. 

April 11-Animal Science PDC meeting with Volunteer livestock coordinators. 6:30 p.m. at the Roseau County Courthouse boardroom. The purpose of the Ani Sci PDC is to plan, promote and implement educational programs in the area of animal science for 4-H youth enrolled in livestock/animal projects in Roseau County. 

April 24 Horse Coggins & Vaccination Clinic on Wednesday, April 24 from 5-7 p.m. at Roseau County Fairgrounds. The Greenbush Veterinary Clinic will be hosting, contact their clinic for questions (218-782-2310) 

April 25- Mandatory Roseau County 4-H Livestock project meeting (beef, dairy, goat, llama-alpaca, poultry, rabbit, swine, sheep) on Thursday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m. Contact Sandi for zoom link at least one day prior to meeting weila006@umn.edu 

April 29- Mandatory Horse Project Meeting on Monday, April 29 at 7 p.m. at Roseau County Courthouse Boardroom

April - Cloverbud 4-H After School Spring sessions are underway. May 15 - Animal ID deadline in 4HOnline. All animals (Livestock & Horse) must be owned, and identified according to each species requirements in 4-HOnline by May 15, 2024. More county specific details can be found on the Roseau County 4-H webpage, including the county animal id letter. More county specific  information  found in the in the Livestock Animal ID Letter

MAY 15 - Enrollment Deadline. Deadline to enroll in 4-H in order to show projects at fair without consequences. 

TEEN DAY CAMP COUNSELOR OPPORTUNITY (Grades 7+): Are you a youth in grade 7+ interested in working with younger youth as a camp counselor? We will provide training and support to learn skills as a camp counselor. This is a great opportunity to add volunteer experience to your resume and to gain volunteer hours. All youth interested must register for the Roseau County 4-H Day Camp Counselor training, Sunday, May 19, 3-5 p.m. at the Roseau County Courthouse Boardroom, no cost. Register for the event in 4Honline, under “Roseau County 4-H Day Camp Counselor training”

June 1- 15 - FairEntry Registration will be open to enter/register 4-H projects for county fair showcase & events - more information to come.

June 15- Livestock Quality Assurance Training Deadline. Options: To find a training or learn more about your options to complete training visit the Roseau County 4-H webpage, https://z.umn.edu/Roseau4H-LQAE 

*Reminder to all youth that are hoping to participate as a state fair 4-H Minnesota livestock exhibitor (Gr. 6 and above) in beef, dairy, sheep, swine, poultry, rabbits, meat goat and dairy goat must complete livestock quality assurance training prior to county fair. (June 15 Roseau County 4-H deadline to complete) The following youth have valid LQAE training and DO NOT need to complete in 2024. (Clara B., Bennett B., Briggs B., Caleb D., Elliot I., Emmitt I., Issac O., Kaia O., Ashlyn O. Jocelyn W.,  Katelyn W., Levi W, Micah W. ) *If you are not on the list, YOU NEED to complete LQAE in 2024 to be State Fair eligible. Training deadline for Roseau County is June 15, which means you must have the training completed and reported to us by June 15, 2024.
