Dear 4-H Families,
I am so excited to join the 4-H Youth Development team here in St. Louis County. This really is a dream job for me. I have always been focused on helping others to become well-educated, driven, and contributing members of society. I love helping others to learn critical thinking and life skills.
In my interview, I joked that my first experience in 4-H was taking a sewing class when I was around 10. I now have a terminal degree (MFA – Purdue University) in, you guessed it, sewing. I learned how to be a leader, how to research, how to inspire others, and how to critically think and engage with others through 4-H.
Additional background about myself: I have years of experience as a professional theatre artist (costume design and technology), professor (theatre and communication), coach (college speech and debate/director of forensics), and shop manager. I am excited to use some of these skills to expand the local 4-H opportunities by rolling them into one of the most important positions: youth education.
On a personal note, I have 3 amazing children of my own: Eddie (senior at Harbor City), JJ (freshman at East), and Jam (6th grader at Ordean). We have lived many places but consider Duluth home. My husband and I are excited to have moved our family back to Duluth 4 years ago.
I am so thankful to accept this new role and cannot wait to help change the world through quality inspiration and education of our young people!
